Kate Cassidy has revealed two new tattoos that appear to be tributes to her late boyfriend, Liam Payne, in a TikTok update marking her return to social media after a three-month break following his tragic death.
Liam, 31, died in October from a fall at a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. He had been in a relationship with Kate since 2022.
In the TikTok video, titled “simple day,” Cassidy takes viewers through her daily routine, including putting on makeup, going to the gym, cooking, and getting ready for bed. Fans quickly noticed the 25-year-old influencer’s new tattoos: ‘LP’ on her wrist and ‘444’ on her hands, which hold deep personal meaning for the couple, as ‘444’ was their shared “angel number.” She also has angel wings inked on her left index and middle fingers.
The couple had been in South America to attend a concert by Liam’s former bandmate, Niall Horan. Hours before his passing, Liam shared Snapchat videos of the two together, though Kate had already flown back to the U.S. at the time.
A few days after his death, Kate expressed her grief on Instagram, saying, “Thank you for all of the kind words and love that has been sent my way. I have been at a complete loss. Nothing about the past few days have felt real. I ask and pray that you’ll give me the grace and space to navigate this in private.”
She continued, “A few weeks ago, we sat outside on a beautiful evening manifesting our lives together. I keep your note close, even though you told me not to look at it. It said ‘Me and Kate to marry within a year/engaged & together forever 444.’ Liam, I know we’ll be together forever, but not in the way we had planned. You’ll always be with me. I’ve gained a guardian angel.”
Following the news of Liam’s passing, his bandmates expressed their sorrow online: “We’re completely devastated by the news of Liam’s passing. In time, and when everyone is able to, there will be more to say. But for now, we will take some time to grieve and process the loss of our brother, who we loved dearly. The memories we shared with him will be treasured forever. For now, our thoughts are with his family, his friends, and the fans who loved him alongside us. We will miss him terribly. We love you, Liam.”
Liam Payne is survived by his son Bear, whom he had with his former girlfriend Cheryl, as well as his parents, two older sisters, and girlfriend Kate Cassidy. Cheryl, the mother of Liam’s son, also made a public plea for people to stop circulating “abhorrent reports” surrounding his death.
