Jayson Tatum marked the Boston Celtics’ 2024 NBA Finals victory with a striking new back tattoo. The artwork, which depicts Tatum holding the Larry O’Brien Trophy, was unveiled on Thursday.
The Celtics triumphed over the Dallas Mavericks in five games, securing the franchise’s 18th championship title.
At 26 years old, Tatum has been adding to his collection of tattoos during the offseason. Notably, he previously showcased a tattoo commemorating the Kobe Bryant MVP award he received during the 2023 All-Star Game, which he revealed on August 23.
Tatum faced challenges at the beginning of the series against Dallas, scoring a mere 34 points on 12-of-38 shooting over the first two games. However, he rebounded impressively, averaging 25.7 points and 6.3 rebounds per game while shooting 43.3 percent from the field in the final three games of the series. This included a pivotal double-double performance in Game 5, where he scored 31 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to help the Celtics secure the series win.
“This is going to be a night that I will remember for the rest of my life,” Tatum remarked after the game, according to NBC Sports Boston. “From the game, the celebration, these moments.”
As a five-time All-Star, Tatum has kept himself busy this summer, contributing to the United States men’s basketball team that won a gold medal at the 2024 Paris Olympics.
With the 2024-25 NBA season on the horizon, Tatum aims to lead Boston in defending its title and make history by becoming the first team to win back-to-back championships since the Golden State Warriors in 2018.
