Brianna “Chickenfry” LaPaglia once showcased a tattoo featuring lyrics from her ex-boyfriend Zach Bryan’s song “28.”
In a TikTok from August 2023, LaPaglia gave a tour of her tattoos, sharing the stories behind each one. She pointed out a tattoo that read “how lucky are we” on the back of her arm, explaining that she and friends got it during a drunken night in Las Vegas. Despite being fond of the tattoo’s placement, she admitted the lyrics looked “morphed together.”
The line comes from Bryan’s song “28,” which is part of his album The Great American Bar Scene, released on July 4, 2024. The country singer included the phrase in the lyrics, “How lucky are we? It’s been a hell of a week but you’re all grown now…” Fans initially speculated the song was about LaPaglia, but Bryan later clarified in a now-deleted post that it was inspired by his dog Boston’s emergency surgery.
“Boston, our puppy, was going into surgery,” Bryan explained. “And I told Brianna, ‘How lucky are we?’ to have had a puppy so beautiful. She came out of it just fine, and I wrote the song the next day.”
On October 22, Bryan took to Instagram Stories to announce that he and LaPaglia had broken up, citing personal struggles and a difficult year as the reasons for their separation. He added, “I thought it would be beneficial for both of us to go our different ways. I am not perfect and never will be. Please respect Brianna’s privacy and space, and if you have it in your heart, mine too.”
LaPaglia, in response, shared on her Instagram Stories that she felt “really blindsided” by the breakup and planned to take a break from social media to heal. “When I’m ready, I’ll be back and ready to talk,” she wrote.
The couple first met at the Academy of Country Music Awards in May 2023 and began dating shortly after. LaPaglia officially announced their relationship in July 2023 on her Plan Bri Uncut podcast.
