Emma Willis has shared her reaction to discovering that her husband, Matt, got a tattoo of her on his leg, telling Yahoo UK, “I don’t look like that anymore.”
The couple celebrated their 16th wedding anniversary in July, and to mark the occasion, Matt chose to get a tattoo symbolizing their love. He revealed the detailed leg tattoo of Emma to his social media followers. Emma admitted she was surprised by the choice of image used for the tattoo.
“I was quite shocked, to be honest,” Emma said. “I knew he was getting a tattoo, but I didn’t know which picture he was using. I was quite surprised by the image because it was different from what I expected. It’s quite an old photo, so I thought, ‘Oh, I don’t look like that anymore.’”
Matt shared the tattoo on Instagram on July 5, with the caption: “Happy Anniversary @emmawillisofficial… I love you more than ever. 16 years and it keeps getting better. Thanks @tomftattoo for your amazing work and fitting me in just in time for today.”
Matt acknowledged that his wife’s reaction was not quite what he had hoped. On his podcast, On The Mend, he reflected, “If anyone doesn’t know, I got a new tattoo for our wedding anniversary. We’ve been married for 16 years, and I thought it would be a great present to get her tattooed on my leg.”
He continued, “It was a lovely thought. They say when you have plans, God laughs. I had grand plans and a big gesture of love, and I thought she would love it. But the response wasn’t exactly what I expected. She wasn’t overjoyed; she was just like, ‘Oh, so you got a tattoo of me on you for my anniversary present,’ and I was like, ‘Yeah.’ It wasn’t quite the reaction I hoped for, but I love it. I think it’s cute.”
This year, Matt and Emma reunited on-screen to host the reality series Love Is Blind UK. Behind the scenes, they balance their showbiz careers with parenting their three children: Isabelle, Ace, and Trixie.
Emma also discussed the tattoo while promoting her series Delivering Babies, now streaming on U. In the fourth series, Emma tackles the challenges of working at Watford General Hospital.
Emma shared how Matt supports her behind the scenes. “There are tears when I get home because I think I’m going to fail or I shouldn’t be there,” she said. “But Matt is amazing. He listens, shares the load, and often carries it entirely. He preps my meals, sends me off with a packed lunch, and even brings my shoes when I forget them. He’s wicked. He’s great.”
