Months ago, observant Heartstopper fans spotted a new tattoo on Kit Connor’s bicep, which appeared to read “CALL ON ME.” Fans immediately began speculating about its meaning, wondering what the phrase signified. Now, thanks to Connor’s Warfare co-star, D’Pharaoh Woon-A-Tai, the mystery has been solved.

In a recent interview, Woon-A-Tai shared the story behind the tattoo, revealing that during the filming of Warfare—in which he and Connor portray Navy SEALs in Iraq, alongside fellow actors Will Poulter, Joseph Quinn, and Charles Melton—the group of young actors formed a tight bond, much like the real military unit they were playing.

“It felt like a little frat boy house,” Woon-A-Tai said, recalling the experience of living together during a three-week training intensive.

As part of their camaraderie, the group decided to get matching tattoos inspired by a scene in Warfare. In the opening of the movie, the SEALs watch the famous, seductive music video for Eric Prydz’s 2004 song “Call on Me.” As a result, Woon-A-Tai, Connor, and several other cast members chose to get the song’s title tattooed on their bodies.

“Symbolizing that we can call on each other, really—it sounds a little corny and cheesy, but it’s referencing a few different things,” Woon-A-Tai explained. “It goes pretty deep. We can call on each other, no matter after this project, anytime. We’re very close to each other and we’ll be there for each other.”

While Connor’s tattoo is on his arm, other castmates opted to have their ink placed a bit lower. In December, Michael Gandolfini, one of the Warfare actors, shared a photo on Instagram of himself, Woon-A-Tai, Cosmo Jarvis, and Noah Centineo, all showing off their matching thigh tattoos.

In response to the post, Connor, known for his brevity, simply commented, “i adore you.”

Warfare will hit theaters on April 11.
