Zion Williamson’s rise in the NBA has been somewhat hampered by injuries throughout his five seasons, but when healthy, he is undeniably one of the most dominant forces in the paint.
The two-time All-Star has averaged nearly 25 points per game in his young career. At just 24 years old, he still has plenty of time to continue his growth and stay on the court consistently.
Like many young NBA stars, Williamson has explored body art, and his latest tattoo has garnered significant attention. Fans were especially intrigued by his new stomach tattoo, which draws inspiration from the world of anime.
On Wednesday, images of Williamson’s new ink surfaced on social media. Positioned in the center of his abdomen, the Pelicans forward now sports the circular seal associated with Naruto, a famous anime character.
According to Narutopedia, the seal Williamson chose is a four-symbol design traditionally used to “seal a large enemy or an evil spirit” into a target, whether an object or a human’s body. The tattoo was first shared on Instagram by the Louisiana-based account, inkbynova.
So far this season, Williamson has averaged 24.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, and 4.7 assists, and he’s managed to stay healthy in recent weeks. However, injury struggles have plagued him throughout his career, and he’s already missed an extended stretch of the 2024-25 season, playing in only 21 of the team’s 58 games.
The Naruto tattoo is just the latest example of Williamson’s affinity for anime. In the past, he’s spoken about his love for the series, and he even estimated that 80 percent of NBA players are fans of anime, as he shared with GQ.
This new ink also comes at a time when Williamson is reportedly in the best shape of his career. According to ESPN’s Michael C. Wright, despite being listed at 284 pounds by the NBA, Williamson is actually playing at 264 pounds, marking the lightest weight he has been since being drafted in 2019.
