Pete Davidson is looking forward to saying goodbye to what he calls his “dumbest” tattoos.

In a Thursday, Feb. 6, appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the 31-year-old Dog Man actor revealed that most of the tattoos on his body are not ones he’ll miss as he undergoes the process of removal.

Seth Meyers, 51, brought up Davidson’s well-known decision to remove his tattoos, remarking, “You’ve famously said you’re going to get rid of your tattoos, which isn’t an easy thing to do.”

Davidson agreed, sharing that he expects all his tattoos to be gone by the time he turns 40.

Back in 2021, Davidson told PEOPLE that he hoped his tattoos would be gone before reaching 30. “When I’m 40, it’ll all be gone,” he said at the time. “Like the chest and back.”

Meyers then asked Davidson to elaborate on the removal process, mentioning how laser technicians typically “burn it off” over “seven visits” for each design.

Davidson explained, “It’s at least seven visits. And if it’s black and white, it’s a little easier. But if it’s a color tattoo, it takes forever.”

Meyers then asked if there were any tattoos that Davidson was particularly relieved to get rid of. Davidson’s answer? “All of them.”

“Well, I made a lot of those decisions before rehab,” he joked. “So I got the dumbest tattoos.”

When pressed to pick just one tattoo that he was happiest to part with, Davidson named his “collection of cartoons smoking blunts.” This collection included a “Muppet smoking a blunt” and “the Tootsie Pop owl smoking a blunt.”

Davidson quipped, “Which is weird ‘cause I wasn’t even old enough to be around for that cartoon, that commercial. Yeah, it’s not great.”

During a previous Late Night appearance in May 2021, the King of Staten Island star revealed that his acting career motivated him to start removing the tattoos. “I honestly never thought that I would get an opportunity to act and I love it a lot,” he said. “It takes like three hours — you have to get there like three hours earlier — to cover all your tattoos. For some reason, people in movies, they don’t have them that much.”

Davidson’s tattoo removal process also includes several pieces linked to his brief relationship with Kim Kardashian. He had a “My girl is a lawyer” tattoo (referring to her passing the baby bar exam in December 2021) as well as the initials “KNSCP” (for Kim and her four children—North, Saint, Chicago, and Psalm, with ex-husband Kanye West).

Davidson also had a tattoo of “Aladdin” and “Jasmine” with an infinity symbol, inspired by their 2021 SNL sketch when they kissed for the first time.

A source previously told PEOPLE, “He just woke up one day and wanted them gone, and it’s been a years-long process,” adding that Davidson spent $200,000 on the tattoo removal.
