Vanna White, the beloved Wheel of Fortune star, surprised fans during Tuesday’s episode by revealing that she’s considering getting her very first tattoo at the age of 67.
The episode featured contestant Phil McManus from Palmer, Massachusetts, who shared that he has over 45 tattoos, many of which are Disney-themed. After an unfortunate puzzle missolve, host Ryan Seacrest shifted the spotlight to White, disclosing her unexpected interest in tattoos.
White revealed that her 27-year-old daughter, Giovanna “Gigi” Santo Pietro—a professional tattoo artist—has been encouraging her to take the plunge. “My daughter’s a tattoo artist, and she’s been trying to talk me into getting one. So I’m really considering doing it,” White said, playfully mouthing “a small one” to the camera.
Seacrest encouraged fans to share their tattoo suggestions for White on social media, quipping, “Hit us up on social. What tattoo should Vanna White get? This will go viral, no doubt.”
Fans quickly responded with creative and humorous tattoo suggestions.
Twitter user @ndp1234 suggested a wheel-themed tattoo: “@TheVannaWhite should def get a wheel tattoo #WheelOfFortune.”
Matthew Brown (@The_MattB_5924) proposed a Minnie Mouse tattoo, referencing the show’s Secret Santa week: “A tattoo that @TheVannaWhite should get is a #MinnieMouse because of Secret Santa week on @WheelofFortune.”
@twilightreader3 kept it simple with, “Vanna, get a ❤️ #tattoo #WheelOfFortune.”
On Instagram, fans shared even more suggestions after the show posted a clip of White’s revelation.
User We_are_nsync recommended, “A vowel.”
Alyviavhogan jokingly suggested, “Pat Sajak portrait.”
Others pitched heartfelt ideas like a heart, knitting needles, or the iconic Wheel of Fortune letters “R, L, S, T, N, E.”
Not everyone was on board, however. Some fans, like nancy.burress, cautioned, “I say no! Don’t do it! You went this long without one; why start now?”
White shares two children with her ex-husband George Santo Pietro—Nicholas “Nikko,” 30, and Gigi. While Gigi initially studied photography at New York University, she pivoted to tattoo artistry and now works at the Lincoln Tattoo Company in Los Angeles.
In an October 2023 interview with People, White mentioned she was open to getting a tattoo crafted by her daughter. “I want to have matching hearts where she’ll do a little heart on me, and I’ll do one on her. I feel like I need to do that because it’s her and it would be her on me,” she said at the time.
White admitted she never anticipated her daughter’s career choice but admires her talent and dedication. “I said, ‘Gigi, why tattooing?’ She said, ‘Mom, my art is on someone’s body for the rest of their lives.’ I thought that was pretty cool. You have to be so good and confident—you can’t mess up. She absolutely loves it and has been doing a great job for the past three years. I’m so, so proud of her.”
Whether or not White decides to go through with her first tattoo, the playful exchange has already cemented her status as a fan favorite, sparking excitement and debate among her loyal audience.
