In the worlds of MMA and boxing, tattoos are common among fighters, with some bearing personal significance and others being purely aesthetic. For example, while Alex Pereira has tattoos, they don’t hold any particular meaning for him. In contrast, UFC stars like Conor McGregor, Max Holloway, and Sean O’Malley are recognized for showcasing some of the best ink in the sport. Recently, featherweight champion Ilia Topuria featured in a video where he evaluated various fighters’ tattoos.
During a recent interview, Ilia Topuria rated the tattoos of several fighters on a scale of 1 to 5. He began with Max Holloway’s back tattoo of wings, which he appreciated, awarding it a score of 4. However, Topuria expressed his disapproval of Josh Emmett’s colorful tattoo, giving it a rating of 1 and stating he didn’t like it.
Topuria did not hold back in his critique of Sean O’Malley’s colorful owl tattoo on his chest, calling it “disgusting” and assigning it a score of -5. When it came to Conor McGregor, the featherweight champion opted not to provide a rating, simply stating, “F*** him.”
Despite their ongoing rivalry and the upcoming UFC 308 fight, Topuria rated Holloway’s tattoo the highest during the interview, giving it a score of 4. The tension between Topuria and McGregor has been further fueled by their recent online exchanges, particularly as Topuria has been trash-talking the Irish fighter.
As Topuria prepares for his first featherweight title defense against Max Holloway at UFC 308 on October 26, he has found himself engaged in a verbal clash with McGregor. Topuria criticized Holloway for his 2013 loss to McGregor, which prompted McGregor to publicly praise Holloway on social media, warning Topuria that he might lose his title in Abu Dhabi next Saturday. After McGregor deleted the tweet, Topuria was asked in a recent interview about the numerous tweets McGregor had removed. He responded,
“Because he’s a p*y. He’s like a small kid, you know. He’s like a kid— I insult you. I write something on social media, and then I delete it. Bro, go fk yourself.”
Following his knockout victory over Alexander Volkanovski at UFC 298, ‘El Matador’ has gained considerable attention for his bold trash talk. Now, he faces a tough test against former featherweight champion Max Holloway. Fans are eager to see if Topuria can successfully defend his title this weekend.
