Hozier made a fan’s night unforgettable by sketching a tattoo design for her at his recent “Unreal Earth Tour” concert on Wednesday in San Antonio, where he performed alongside special guest Allison Russell.
A viral TikTok video captures the moment Hozier interacts with the fan, who held a poster reading “Draw our next tattoo?” in bold letters. Hozier playfully questions the fan, asking, “Are you going to permanently mark your body with whatever I put on this piece of paper? That’s a lot of power to give to one person.” When the fan mentions “five other people,” Hozier inquires, “You’ve done this before?”
The fan shares an impressive list of celebrities who have contributed to her tattoo collection, including Ewan McGregor, Hayden Christensen, Orlando Bloom, Matthew Mercer, and David Tennant. With one of his band members offering their back as a makeshift easel, Hozier begins sketching the fan’s next tattoo.
He later reveals the finished artwork to the audience, prompting a collective “aw” from the crowd. “So, it’s a crying rain cloud but he’s happy,” Hozier explains, adding his signature beneath the drawing before passing it back to the fan.
The next day, the fan, known as Coco on TikTok, shared a video detailing her tattoo collection. She showed Hozier’s drawing and the sign that caught his attention, mentioning plans to get it tattooed soon. “I’m in talks with a local tattoo artist who has offered to do this tattoo for free,” she shares.
Coco recounts her experience of asking celebrities to sketch tattoos, starting with Hayden Christensen at a fan expo two years ago. He drew her two crossed lightsabers, which she now has tattooed on her hip.
At a Comic-Con event in New York, she collected three more sketches from Matthew Mercer, David Tennant, and Ewan McGregor. Mercer drew an open book, which Coco has tattooed on her ankle, while Tennant sketched a tiny Tardis for another ankle tattoo.
Coco explains that getting McGregor’s drawing was more challenging, requiring her to contact his agency before successfully obtaining a heart design, which she interlinked with Christensen’s lightsabers.
The last tattoo sketch she acquired before Hozier’s was from Orlando Bloom, who signed a “Funko Pop!” of his character Legolas with an “abstract Legolas” drawing. Coco expressed her enthusiasm for potentially collecting more celebrity tattoo sketches in the future.
