Tattoos are a popular form of folk art, cherished for centuries by those who enjoy having meaningful or decorative designs inked onto their skin. While many choose conventional places for their tattoos, others opt for more unusual locations on their bodies. Longtime UFC commentator Joe Rogan, who has his own collection of tattoos, isn’t a fan of getting inked in unconventional spots.
Joe Rogan is no novice when it comes to tattoos—his arms are adorned with several, which are easily visible when he wears a T-shirt. However, Rogan has his limits when it comes to body art. He recently shared his candid thoughts on rapper Post Malone and country singer Jelly Roll’s tattoos.
In a recent episode of his JRE podcast, Rogan expressed his astonishment at some people’s choice of tattoo locations. He remarked, “Someone’s got tattoos on their hands, like, ‘Jesus! What is she doing?’” This is his typical reaction when he sees tattoos that he considers excessive. He went on to identify what he believes is the worst place to get a tattoo: the face.
Rogan acknowledged that some of his friends, including Jelly Roll and Post Malone, have chosen to get face tattoos. “The face is the real problem. That’s a little wacky,” Rogan said. “But I have a lot of friends, like Jelly Roll… He’s got tattoos all over his face… and Post Malone. He’s got a bunch of writing all over his face,” Rogan explained to his guest, Andrew Huberman, on JRE episode #2195.
Both Jelly Roll and Post Malone have appeared on Rogan’s podcast, where their conversations were well-received by audiences. Over time, Rogan has become friends with both artists, and he believes their charismatic personalities help people see beyond their unusual tattoos.
“The thing about Jelly Roll and Post is that once you talk to them, you don’t notice the tattoos anymore. You just see the person. It’s like they’re wearing a shirt. It’s normal,” Rogan added. However, there was an incident where Post Malone’s face tattoos caused a problem in Australia.
Over a year ago, Post Malone visited Perth, Australia, likely for a performance. One evening, he attempted to enter the rooftop bar of the QT Perth Hotel but was denied entry by the staff because of his tattoos. “They turned me away for my tattoos,” the Syracuse rapper told ‘The Western Australian’.
Post Malone noted that despite having over sixty tattoos, he had never faced such an issue anywhere else. “I’ve never really experienced anything like that,” the 29-year-old said. Following the incident, the hotel issued an apology, stating, “On Saturday night, our third-party security did not exercise the appropriate discretion and we take full responsibility for this.”
