Kelly Clarkson made a fashionable statement on Wednesday’s episode of The Kelly Clarkson Show, choosing a vintage-style black-and-white checked mini dress paired with elegant black heels. Accentuating her slender waist with a black belt, she completed her chic ensemble with a half up-do showcasing her long blonde hair.
In addition to her impeccable style, the American Idol winner gave a glimpse of her extensive tattoo collection during the appearance. Sharing a photo on social media, Kelly revealed tattoos including a flower on her ankle and a quote on her foot among her total of 14 ink pieces. These include a heart on her wrist, a four-leaf clover heart on her hand, and various others like a puzzle piece on her shoulder blade, a kite on her wrist, and a moon behind her ear. Each tattoo holds personal significance for Kelly, reflecting meaningful moments and reminders in her life.
Discussing her affinity for tattoos in a past interview with Access Hollywood, Kelly explained, “A lot of my tattoos are reminders. They’re not all struggles, but many are. I am such a forgiving human…I forget what happens. And then you just keep letting — you allow the same thing to repeat.”
Kelly’s journey with tattoos began during a tour in New York, where she got her first tattoo despite initial concerns from her Southern Baptist mother about body art. Over time, her mom not only accepted but embraced tattoos, even getting a connecting tattoo to symbolically link with Kelly and her sister.
“My mother is a Southern Baptist, ‘Your body is a temple, do not disgrace it with a tattoo.’ I have no idea how we convinced her. I think she liked having a tattoo with her daughters so it’s kind of cool,” Kelly shared warmly.
